Hi Tom, I’m not sure what way yous are required with slurry storage over there but would u not think about an open lagoon, and ur slurry still go into ur tower to get processed/cleaned and pump all the slurry from the tower into the lagoon, or you could put an extra few rings on the slurry tower but it prob wouldn’t be sufficient enough storage by adding that little onto it

If you’ve got enough time for the grass to use all the nitrogen that your putting on spreading longer grass isn’t a waste it will still grow and get thicker. It’s only a waste if it doesn’t have to be used the nitrogen and goes in the pit unused.

Will polyhalite be able to replace nitrogen fertiliser once the Whitby mine is in operation

Put a dome roof on the slurry store. Thats a meter of rain a year not going in. That and roofing the silage clamps will make a big difference. Slurry will be less dilute too

You need a hovercraft.

Your fields are perfect for alfalfa and alfalfa drinks a lot of water and it'll help dry your fields up.

How much are you putting on per/acre then , that is so wet up there 😟, if you going to reseed would it be not better in the Autumn , if we got a dry spell now it would not do well and the weed problem , perhaps

To put that little bit of fertilizer on when the fields are that wet is just plain stupid! Roller ha! The stand is going to suffer, your betting on grass spreading by roots to save your butt. Nitrogen leeches down into he ground DONT YOU WORRY ABOUT IT GETTING INTO THE WATER TABLE?? You’ve got to have a very high water table? Manure leeching into the water table? Your ground should be a reserve left in swamp. Where I’m at we would have a penalty and told to stop. You’re putting on such a small amount that you can’t see it flowing out of the spreader. How can this be justified? Grass is cold colored because of no sun fella. No reason at all that those fields couldn’t be done after first cutting with no rutting to worry about and the water table safe.
